Perfect stay at The West Nest. Lovely property on a quiet side road with the most stunning view. We spent most of our time looking out of the window!

Incredible! Location wise, it’s on a track just off the road through Glendale, a great advantage to be away from passing traffic. The views at West Nest are amazing & beautiful, the house is super warm & cosy and has everything you could need. We loved the outside hot tub too. Great location to visit other parts of Skye
The West Nest comfortably fulfils it's promise of a high-end property. Well equipped kitchen, great living area with a super log burner and TV with streaming services, stylish dining room, comfortable beds. Great to return to after a day's walking. Plus a very responsive (but not intrusive) host. Simply excellent.
Gordon’s house is an absolute GEM! It was so warm, comfortable and relaxing.
Also super stylish for those who appreciate danish design! Skye is a magical place - we will be back!

We had a wonderful winter break in the beautifully furnished and cosy West Nest. The view is spectacular, the bed very comfortable, and the kitchen well-equipped. Gordon's communication was fantastic throughout and we will certainly be coming back.

Best accommodation ever!! Hardly can find the words to describe how wonderful our stay was. Everything was just perfect! The views outside are amazing! Best location to stay. It has no neighbours next to you, this is a very quiet place. There are so many beautiful things I want to say about this house.
The communication with the owner was more than perfect! Every day of our stay we lit up the fireplace. It was so cozy! There was more than enough wood we could use.It was also possible to charge our car. We slept more than fine in the very comfortable bed. The West Nest Skye has a very nice website with great recommendations. It’s also a great location for the highlights on the Island. And also; I’m totally in love with the interior! Great design! Especially the blankets from Skyeweavers (the neighbours) and the candles from Skyecandles. A must to visit!
Don’t look any further but book this accommodation! Thank you for everything and the sweetest welcome gifts!!

After a long trek from Islay, the West Nest greeted us with a warm welcome. The house is impeccable; from the lighting, design, to the decor, furniture and the view! Everything is geared toward making our stay as convenient and comfortable with amenities of a luxury hotel. Thank you Gordon, you’re a pro!

We were mesmerized by the ever changing panorama and lost our desire to go anywhere else all week (especially on local one way roads). We feel lucky to have been in Glendale when there were only a few hours of darkness and even more nuances of light. I spent my days painting in front of the main view and my partner wrote at the dining room table, also looking out on the panorama. If you’re there for a week and wanting to cook, stop at the Co-op in Broadly for fresh fruits & veg, but be aware that the hosts request you leave nothing behind. They left milk, butter, bread & eggs coffee and a lovely basket of local products for us.
We also appreciated the local products used in the house, especially the lovely blankets made by their neighbors Skye Weavers, and the scent sticks. Good marketing!
We have just returned from a week-long trip to Skye staying at Gordon's superlative West Nest. The moment we walked in and saw the view from the dining room window was emotional, we had been expecting a special outlook but this really took our breath away. And the view changed throughout the week, there was always something new to marvel at, be it red deer running across the opposite hill side (bring your binoculars, they were never so much used and appreciated), a huge liner crossing Loch Pooltiel, the Outer Hebrides levitating through the sea mist or the rain blowing in and out again. Magical. Gordon, as everyone else has said, was the perfect remote host, reachable in minutes and full of kindness and humour but never overstepping. We loved him. The house itself is really top-end. It has everything you need and a fair amount of fun extras we'll leave you to discover (thank you Gordon). We had the atmospheric wood burner going almost every night and the kitchen was perfectly stocked for a week of cooking in. We felt welcomed and appreciated as guests and loved everything about it in return. If you are wondering whether to book, just do it, it's a once in a lifetime experience to be in such amazing surroundings (the stunning isle of Skye) and in the lap of luxury to enjoy it all the more. All the wildlife came out to play too, fortunately for us, we saw golden eagles in Glendale several times, a white tailed eagle and numerous seals outside the Three Chimneys and again at Dunvegan and two Minke whales from the cliff top above Kilt Rock. Not to mention all of the seabirds imaginable at Neist Point. We will remember this week with such joy and appreciation, Skye and especially the West Nest were so much better than we had dared hope. Just perfection all round.

A beautiful home with gorgeous view from the lounge window out to the Uists. The house has everything one could need and location excellent close to village store and the lovely Cafe Lephin. Fabulous.

Wow! I was blown away from the photographs online but this place is absolutely stellar! The fantastic decor aside, you really do have your own little Scottish paradise. The owners have done an amazing job and it's clear they have kept guests in mind for every little detail. My favourite part of my trip was sitting by the fire pit, watching the sunset enjoying a Talisker (double...). Can't recommend enough.

The cottage was very comfy and spacious. The interior was immaculate and the fresh bread, tea , coffee and milk appreciated after a long drive. The pine scented candle was lovely. Gordon is a very proactive host who answered all emails instantly. Thank you for allowing us to use your beautiful home. It was just what we needed to relax in. The views were amazing and places recommended to eat and walk were very useful indeed. The cottage had everything in it that we needed.
Nothing much to say except 5 stars all around. A beautiful cottage in stunning location with everything you could need and a super responsive host. Highly, highly recommended.

The West Nest is a delightful cottage in a stunning setting. As you can see from the photos it has a Scandinavian feel to it, it's certainly very 'hygge' in the finish and soft furnishing. I didn't need or want for anything during my stay. Every time I thought I'd need to head out to pick up something, there it was in another cupboard or draw. An awful lot of thought has gone into making visitors welcome. Despite being under the weather for most of my stay there was something strangely satisfying watching the wild (and I mean wild) weather roar passed the window with the log fire crackling away. There are local shops in Glendale and Dunvegan which are exceedingly well stocked for such small places, however, beyond that it a minimum of 30-45 min drive to a supermarket so it's better to arrive well stocked with provisions. That said, any drive, anywhere, on the Isle of Skye is spectacular. Gordon is a very attentive host, he is quick to respond and nothing is too much of an issue. His communications contain all that you'd need to enjoy your stay. I can't recommend this property highly enough. I'll certainly be looking at a return visit next year.

My husband and I had an idyllic stay for Hogmanay, with friendly, welcoming hosts, who truly wanted us to have that experience. The finishings, furnishings and attention to detail were all high end, functional, and calming with no expense spared-we loved the Ishga seaweed soaps! And the showers! The outside is an extension of the inside with those views on top; the valley, hills and sea create an unforgettable landscape with ever changing views as the Scottish weather comes through. Several walks, the local shop or the incredible Skye Weavers are right on the doorstep too. This place is a rare gem.
Just arrived back home from an epic Christmas Break on the Isle of Skye. Definitely worth the drive. The scenery is so beautiful that at times it nearly brought me to tears, as I could not find the words (and still can’t) to describe the breathtaking views of this almost untouched part of the world. We stayed in a beautiful holiday rental called the West Nest. The owners went above and beyond to ensure we have a lively stay, even setting up the most beautiful Christmas tree for us. I cannot fault anything.

I highly recommend Gordon's beautiful home in Glendale. For us, it was the best sanctuary and base for exploring Skye for a week. The home is impeccable: clean, beautifully designed and well-kitted in one of the most beautiful corners of the island. We had a lovely stay at the West Nest. It’s a beautiful, quiet location with fantastic views down to Glendale (which are even better than the photos suggest). The West Nest is really well equipped with everything you need for a week on Skye’s wild west coast. The beds and sofa are really comfortable and there are really well thought out outdoor spaces to enjoy the sunsets.
Gordon is a great host and communicated well. He’s really responsive and quickly helped with a minor issue we had when we arrived.
We hope to be back at the West Nest soon.

Don't hesitate for one second about booking this beautiful place. It is super stylish with a beautiful colour palette reflecting the colours of Skye. It offers uncluttered space and is such an easy place to stay in. There's a really well-equipped kitchen and the basics are all there waiting for you. Gordon communicates clearly and promptly so the house is easy to find and there are lots of suggestions for the local area. Glendale may be small but it has the best village shop I've ever been in, a community hall with a craft fair every Tues, a vegetarian tea house restaurant, a great cafe and Skye weavers. The views from the living room over Glendale down to the sea are stunning. Neist point is one way along the road and Dunvegan the other. All-in-all, a thoughtfully converted, well-designed gem I a beautiful location.

We had a fabulous 4 night stay late March, a stunning location in Glendale and the house is wonderful, great quality throughout. Gordon is easy to communicate with and responds very quickly, would highly recommend anyone to stay here. A perfect home rental.
I’ve been coming to Skye every year for the last 10 years and The West Nest is by far the best place I have stayed within the Isle of Skye. Not only are the views outside breathtakingly beautiful, so is the inside. It’s beautifully decorated, every inch has been considered. The soft furnishes and lamps add that relaxed vibe that just instantly makes you feel calm and relaxed. The showers are amazing beautifully designed and perfect after a long hike. The kitchen is fully equipped if you’re a foodie with all the utensils and cookware that you would need. I’m already trying to plan my return.
This has been one of the best Airbnb experiences we had and we had a lot of them.
If you want a spacious, comfortable, beautifully decorated and warm home away from home on Skye, this is the place to be.
The house has everything you need, kitchen is very well stocked and well designed, the beds are amazing, the shower is so nice and the views …. Where to start. There is a nice wood burning stove in the living room, which gives such a nice atmosphere.
We loved Glendale as well, on of the prettiest spots on the island, with a nice general store and the glen has such a nice atmosphere.
The host is fast in replying and very friendly and helpful.

We’ve always loved the north west highlands but we’ve only come across a couple of places that could truly describe themselves as “luxury”. The West Nest is one of them. The location is absolutely stunning and the situation of the holiday cottage really makes the most of the views over to the Hebrides. The house has everything you could want (including a log burner!) and we were blown away by the beautiful interior design and welcoming touches. As far as self catering goes, the kitchen was a dream to cook in. We loved everything about the house and will be back year after year.

Our stay at Gordon’s was outstanding. The house was gorgeous with stunning views and it was the perfect place to come home to after long days out hiking and exploring the island. It felt modern and cozy at the same time. This kitchen was very well appointed and we loved spending evenings by the wood stove in the living room. Gordon was an excellent host and I cannot recommend the house highly enough.

We have had another epic stay at your stunning home in Skye. We have had amazing time and thank you again for being the best hosts. We have been so lucky with the weather. Very rainy at night but the days have been mostly dry. The sun came out and we seen a few golden eagles and seals down at the bottom of Glendale.

Thank you letting us stay at your lovely place! The West Nest is the best AirBnB we have ever stayed. The views over the bay are spectacular and it has been furnished to the highest standard with a very cosy feel. It also has the best kitchen i have ever experienced in an AirBnB and is a real joy for someone who enjoys cooking. The place was super clean with all towels, etc. provided. Despite it being so remote, it has a phenomenal vegetarian restaurants, a cafe, and a small shop within easy walking distance. In addition, the contact with the owner was super friendly and extremely helpful. I can’t recommend this place enough.
Outstanding. Think open plan five star hotel suite with epic views, designer furniture, lovely cosy furnishings and super remote (not as remote as the road photo suggests - there is a shop and lovely cafe a stone’s throw away - although that was taken on the way there…) Wilfa batch brewer. James Hoffman would be proud! Sonos sound system, wood burner, lockable shed for bikes, sheep skin rugs, fast WiFi. Full size baby travel cot with a proper (!) mattress. Close to some great beaches, Talisker, castles, restaurants (book ahead…), walks and cycling.
The west nest is an amazing find! Beautiful inside and out with the most fantastic view. The kitchen is really well equipped so you can cook if you want to, very clean and stylish and amazing fluffy towels!
